Mykola Valentinovych, just 20 years old, has had to drink water numerous times to tell her story. He has done it before the Ukrainian media dressed in the Russian uniform and explaining their war history. Valentinovych is one of the Russian soldiers detained in Ukraine. “I’ve seen a lot of dead people. I am 20 years old and I have already seen mass graves. I saw real corpses. It’s terrible,” said the young man, who indicated that he did not know that he was going to fight in Ukraine, since the troops advanced for four days without receiving attacks and crossed the border without knowing what they were doing.
The young corporal speaks like this before ‘Ukraine Media Center’, a media of public initiative supported by the Ukrainian Government based in Lviv whose main objective is to help the media cover the war in Ukraine. Thus, Valentinovych wanted to warn “parents who have children who are going to fight” not to do so: “Do not send your children here because what is here are very scary things. Our soldiers are dying, your children, your children.”
“Get us out of here, Because I don’t see the point of war. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to protect their country. We broke into his house like fascists. Without knowing the objective, they threw us like meat. We don’t know the objectives, the goals, but they kill us”, he continued. In this sense, he addressed Putin directly: “I think you’re wrong. You are to blame for this. I ask you to end this.”Many children die. People I have seen may have lost their children. I am sure that our country will never be forgiven,” she lamented.
In addition, he sends a message to his mother in case, somehow, she gets to see him: “Mom, if you see this: if they tell you that everything is in order, don’t believe it. Russia has already committed this crime. I didn’t want to do it, mom. They feed me well here. We are protected. For the only way I can die is from the bombing of my own“. And ditch: “I’m afraid. We are all afraid. We don’t even understand what we’re doing.”
