This Monday the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to a duel to dispute Ukraine, in a message via Twitter.
“I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to a duel. What is at stake is Ukraine,” Musk said in a brief message interspersed with Cyrillic script.
“Do you accept the confrontation?” The tycoon continued in another tweet, in which he labeled the official Kremlin account.
Musk’s message provoked an almost immediate response from the director of Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, who has confronted the South African-American businessman on social media on other occasions.
“Little devil, you are still young,” said Dmitry Rogozin, who has led Roscosmos since 2018, describing Musk as a “weak”.
Ukraine’s deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, also took part in the cyberfight, tweeting that he was “sure Musk can send Putin to Jupiter.”
Fedorov has been organizing a fundraiser for weeks to “throw Putin to Jupiter,” money he says will be used to repair damaged infrastructure in Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Musk has been sending terminals of his SpaceX Starlink satellite connection service to try to alleviate internet service interruptions in Ukraine caused by the bombing. (I)
