EU to sanction Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich

Roman Abramovich, who at the moment remains the owner of Chelsea, will not be able to enter the European Union and his assets will be frozen. The EU sanctions for the invasion of Ukraine affect 862 people and 53 Russian entities.

The European Union approves this Monday a new round of sanctions that will extend the black list for the invasion of Ukraine to add more oligarchs close to the president, Vladimir Putin, among them the well-known businessman, Roman Abramovichaccording to the Europa Press agency, citing European sources.

The measures will be approved this afternoon when the written process launched by the Twenty-seven ends. The European sanctions for the invasion of Ukraine already affect 862 people and 53 entities, including Putin himself, and from this afternoon the owner of the Chelsea football club will be subject to prohibition to enter the EU and you will see frozen their assets in the block.

The Russian tycoon has already seen his assets frozen in United Kingdom when the British Government included him a few days ago on the list of those sanctioned in retaliation for the military offensive launched by Russia. Abramovich announced last week that he was stepping aside and put the English club up for sale due to the “current situation”, although he promised that it would not be an “accelerated” process.
