“Kill me now” the young pregnant woman shouted when she learned that her baby had lost its life before being born. The doctors did everything to save her, however the woman in labor died during childbirth, after surviving a bomb attack in a hospital in Ukraine.

The woman, who was not identified, was urgently transferred to another hospital, closer to the front line, according to the Daily Mail. The surgeon on duty explained that the young mother had a crushed pelvis and a separated hip.

Doctors performed a C-section, but the baby “showed no signs of life,” the surgeon revealed. “More than 30 minutes of resuscitation of the mother did not produce results.” They both died.

The image of this injured pregnant woman, while being taken from the Mariupol hospital, was captured by photographers and became one of the most shocking images of the war last Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

Another fate befell the Ukrainian blogger Mariana Vishegirskaya, 26, who was also photographed leaving the bombed-out hospital in the city of Mariupol in an advanced state of pregnancy.

The woman gave birth to a girl on the night of Thursday, March 10, as reported by Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya and published by El País. The baby was named Veronika and she is in good health.
