Venezuela ratifies willingness to dialogue in meeting with Borrell

The Venezuelan Government ratified this Saturday his “disposition” “to peaceful dialogue” in a meeting held between the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Félix Plasencia, and the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Policy, Joseph Borrellin Antalya, Turkey.

“During the meeting with the High Representative of the EU, Foreign Minister Plasencia reiterated Venezuela’s demand to lift the unilateral coercive measures that affect the full enjoyment of the fundamental rights of the people,” the Caribbean country’s Foreign Ministry reported in a press release. .

He explained that the meeting took place “in a pleasant and cordial atmosphere” in which Venezuela stressed its diplomacy oriented “to respect, to the self-determination of peoples and the promotion of the multicentric and multipolar world.”

In the brief statement from the Foreign Ministry, it was indicated that the meeting between Borrell and Plasencia was held in the context of the II Antalya Diplomatic Forum, which will be in session until this Sunday and to which Venezuela sent a high-level delegation headed by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez.

Earlier, Borrell confirmed the meeting with Plasencia in a message on his Twitter account in which he assured that the “serious impact of the war with Ukraine” was also addressed.

“First meeting with Félix Plasencia at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum. The EU supports the dialogue in Mexico. The recommendations of the EU Electoral Observation Mission are a good basis for future elections and democratic reforms. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister assured during this Forum in Turkey that Venezuela is a “committed ally” of Russia, but is open to doing business with the US.

“We are committed allies of the Russian government and we respect its president, (Vladimir) Putin, as a responsible member of the international community and we are convinced that he will do what is best for the people,” Plasencia said in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu news agency. made in English.

At the same time, Plasencia strongly backed a hypothetical return of US oil companies to Venezuela after high-level contacts with Washington last week.

“We have been doing oil business with American companies for a hundred years. We never ask them to leave the country. I hope you respect the sovereignty and legitimacy of my country. If they respect it, we can do a lot together in the oil business,” the minister said.
