Russia announces humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians from five cities

The Ukrainian president has assured that in a single day almost 40,000 people have been able to leave the cities of Sumi, Trostyanets, Krasnopillia, Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel, Izium.

The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that it will declare a ceasefire this Friday and open humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians from five cities, according to the RIA and Interfax news agencies.

The head of the National Defense Control Center, Mikhail Mizintsev, has reported that the evacuees will be able to set course to Russia or to other cities of Ukraine.

“As of 10:00 a.m. (08:00 a.m. in the Basque Country) on March 11, 2022, Russia will declare a ‘regime of silence’ and enable the provision of humanitarian corridors,” Interfax added, citing Mizintsev.

The five cities are Kiev, Sumi, Kharkov, Mariupol and Chernigov.

40,000 people evacuated in a single day

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, reported early this Friday of the departure of 40,000 people through humanitarian corridors and denounced that Russia has not ceased the attacks in Mariupol and Volnovakha.
