Ukraine closed its airspace as soon as the Russian invasion began, the United States and Europe responded with sanctions that prevent Russian aircraft from entering their territories, and Russia reciprocated this decision by prohibiting aircraft from 36 countries, including all nations that make up the European Union, can enter its airspace.

The sanctions caused flight cancellations and diversions on several routes. flight tracker app, FlightRadar24, He explained this situation on his Twitter account, taking as an example a flight between London and Tokyo.

Since March 3, when the route changed by having to go through Alaska and Greenland to reach its destination, the route marked 13,485 kilometers. This deviation caused the flight time to increase from 12 hours to 15 hours.
