Zelensky’s applauded speech in the House of Commons: “We are fighting one of the most powerful armies in the world”

Ukraine has already chained 13 days of war. Today marks almost two weeks since the start of the invasion ordered by Putin.

Almost two weeks of attacks against the civilian population without even respecting the humanitarian corridors that were opened to allow evacuations. The Ukrainian government already denounced this Monday that the ceasefire was not being respected in the corridors.

This morning, the city of Sumy has suffered several bombings that have resulted in the death of at least 21 peopleincluding several children. Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk has reported that a ceasefire has been agreed with Russia on the route between Sumy, Golubivka, Lojvitsa, Lubny and Poltava. The humanitarian corridor has opened at 09:00 local time, and will close at 21:00.

With this situation, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has pronounced a speech to MPs in the United Kingdom (lower) House of Commons. The first to be produced by a foreign leader in the British Parliament.

The leader of the Ukrainian Executive wanted to make it clear that they will not stop “fight” to defend against attack “by one of the most powerful armies in the world”. “Ukrainians have not done anything to deserve this. We were not looking for it, we are the country that is saving its people, despite having to fight against one of the largest armies in the world. We have to fight against helicopters, missiles… .”. Some words that have been highly applauded by the deputies present in the Lower House.

“We will not give up and we will not lose. We will fight to the end and continue to fight for our land. We will fight in the fields, on the coasts, in the streets,” he said before asking for help from the international community, “from the civilized world.” A help that, he says, has not yet arrived. “On the 9th the countries met of NATO, however we did not see the result that we wanted to see. We feel that way, we feel that unfortunately alliances don’t always work correctly,” he said.

Likewise, he stressed that this “is a war against everyone”, recalling that have seen “Russian tanks attacking the nuclear plant“.

A speech in which, in addition, he has reviewed the attacks they have suffered during these two weeks. “The first day we were attacked by cruise missiles at 04:00. Everyone woke up. And since that day we have not slept. We have all been fighting since this day for our country. On day 2 we had attacks by air and our soldiers and heroes also tried to fight. On the 3rd our army taught us who we were and we saw who were human and who were animals”, he added.
