The Spanish consul has been able to speak this Monday with the Basque journalist. The family, who can only communicate with him by letter, assume they won’t be able to see him for another three months.
The Basque journalist Paul Gonzalez states that it is innocent and what is found “in good health and in good spirits”although he remains isolated in a prison cell in the Polish city of Rzeszów.
In an interview on Radio Euskadi, Oihana Goiriena confirmed that the Spanish consul has been able to contact her husband and that he has told her that “they treat him well” despite remaining in solitary confinement.
So far, neither the family nor the lawyer have been able to speak directly with Pablo and they are only allowed to communicate with him by letteralthough the procedures to be able to hold telephone conversations will begin shortly.
The family assumes that they will not be able to see him until the end of the three months of pre-trial detention allowed by Polish law. “He has told us that he is fine, that he declares himself innocent and that we will see each other in three months”has highlighted his wife.
Pablo Gonzalez was arrested last February 28 near the Ukrainian border when he works as a correspondent and last Thursday he was imprisoned accused of a crime of espionage.
