The military frees the prime minister of Sudan after being detained since the coup

Sudan’s Prime Minister, Abdullah Hamdok, has been released without restrictions and returned to his home on Tuesday after being detained by the military since the coup of Monday. The Sudanese Information Ministry has confirmed that Hamdok has returned with his wife to their residence “under high security”.

Since the coup on Monday, protests have occurred in the country and at least seven people have died. In addition, officials and doctors have started a strike and a civil organization has revealed a schedule of demonstrations for the next few days with the aim of demanding that the Army hand over power.
