The deputy prime minister of the United Kingdom, Dominic Raab, warned this Sunday that the war in Ukraine could drag on for years, and considered that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, underestimated the difficulties of an invasion.
”We must be clear that our mission, together with our allies, is to make sure that Putin fails in Ukraine, and that is going to take some time. We are talking about months, if not years.Held raab in an interview with Sky News.
“We are going to have to demonstrate strategic resistance, because this is not going to end in a few days”stressed the deputy prime minister and head of Justice of the British Government.
raabwho headed the Foreign Office between 2019 and 2021, considers that Moscow is willing to use “any tactic” to meet its objectives in Ukraine. The invasion, he stressed, is being “Tougher than Putin expected.”
Asked if the orders of the Russian president can be considered war crimes, Raab maintained that “The reckless and frankly appalling tactics of the Putin regime must be prosecuted.”
“Not just Putin himself, but anyone who accepts illegal orders,” must answer for it, said the deputy prime minister, who stressed that the United Kingdom will avoid sinking into a “direct military conflict with Putin”.
The head of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Tony Radakin, told the BBC that Western countries “They must have confidence that we are doing the right thing.”
”We must recognize that we are probably going to see Russia increase the violence, we are going to see more indiscriminate bombing. We are going to see more ridiculous violence.” the soldier advanced.
“The world must maintain its determination to keep putting pressure on Russia, because Putin is the only one who can end this.” he added.
