The French tire manufacturer Michelin announced that it is forced to temporarily suspend production at several of its plants in Europe due to logistical problems arising from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“To optimize its operations and adapt the management of its flows, the group has decided to stop the production of some of its factories in Europe for several days in the coming weeks. Each plant will decide the specific duration and modalities”, he indicated in a statement.
Michelin highlighted that due to the current crisis, “and like many industrial players in Europe”, faces significant difficulties in terms of logistics and transport to supply its factories and make deliveries to its customers”.
The company said that it analyzes in real time the sanctions applied by the international community, that it adjusts to those that are in force and that, “in this changing context, it will strive to limit the impact on the service to its customers”.
It is not the first firm in the automobile sector to have suffered the consequences of the offensive launched by Russia against Ukraine on February 24.
Among others, Volkswagen has reduced production in Zwickau and Dresden; Skoda has limited it in the Czech Republic, Hyundai has temporarily suspended it in Saint Petersburg, and Renault suffers a temporary stop in Moscow.
