Despite the bombs and the Russian siege of the Ukrainian people, life goes on for the population. Also love, which although devoid of the finery and celebration it deserves, is still emotional.
It’s the image we’ve seen of a couple getting married in a bomb shelter in Ukraine. The civil ceremony was held in the municipality of Avangard, of the coastal region of Odessawhich we are hearing about this Thursday precisely, due to the imminent threat of Russian invasion from the Black Sea to the city with the same name.
As published by a member of the municipal corporation on her Facebook profile, the service began to be held at 10:15 this Wednesday, but both the bride and groom and the rest of the companions had to take refuge after sounding the anti-aircraft alarms.
Already in the shelter, they point, “Vladislav and Natalia officially became husband and wife“.
The video shows how the bride and groom, after signing their commitment, kiss each other happily. An inevitably emotional scene at the moment in which the rest of the companions in the shelter, start in applause and cheers to the couple.
It is also noted that everyone, including the bride, wears casual clothes and her only bridal attire is a bouquet of flowers. The boyfriend wears a police uniform, his occupation according to the publication, which he has taken advantage of to congratulate the couple with a proclamation for the resistance: “The Avangard Village Council wishes the newlyweds a peaceful and happy married life! Vladislav serves in the police and defends our country. We hope that soon, with the victory, the newlyweds will celebrate the wedding with their family and friends. As children are born in Kiev during the bombing, new families are born in Vanguard! Glory to Ukraine!!!”
At the gates of the Black Sea
Avangard is located few kilometers from the coastal city of Odessawhich is about to be besieged by Russian troops, Ukrainian President Volomir Zelenski announced on Thursday.
It would be the continuation of this offensive that has already managed to gain control of Kherson, a strategic city for its port. Now, Zelensky reported, the Kremlin forces are trying to gain access to Odessa: “They wanted to destroy our Odessa, but they will only see it from the bottom of the Black Sea, because they are at the bottom,” he said.
