The European Union and the US are hitting Russia with sanctions. For the attack on Ukraine

The European Union has imposed three packages of sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, including the freezing of the assets of the Russian central bank. On Wednesday, the EU decided to cut off seven Russian banks from the global SWIFT system of financial settlements – here, however, a 10-day grace period was applied. Among them is the second largest bank VTB, but the sanctions did not hit the largest Sberbank and Gazprombank.

The Western sanctions imposed on Russia in connection with its aggression against Ukraine affected almost every sector of the economy: finance, transport, tourism, culture, and sport. And new restrictions are introduced every day.

Due to unprecedented sanctions, the ruble depreciated drastically in just a few days. There are reports of queues in front of ATMs in Russian cities and problems with paying with cards or the Google Pay and Apple Pay payment systems.

The EU stopped the import of Belarusian products from sectors such as mineral fuels, tobacco, wood, cement, iron and steel. There is also a lock for rubber products, potassium chloride products, bituminous substances and gaseous hydrocarbon products.

There are also restrictions on the export of dual-use goods and technologies and some advanced goods and technologies that may contribute to Belarus’s military, technological, defense and security development, as well as restrictions on the provision of related services.
