In the midst of the war that Russia unleashed in different parts of Ukraine, hundreds of people are seeking the option of leaving the country. However, some choose to stay, as is the case of the Peruvian Iván Figueroa, who lives in Kiev with his wife.
“I don’t think so, I have the problem of my wife’s family, I could retire and evacuate to Peru but my wife does not see it very well leaving her mother and son, and it really is a family problem. That is why we have chosen to stay here.”Ivan declared to Latina.
Iván Figueroa added that he and his wife have “opted to stay in Kiev until the last cartridge is burned” and “until it touches them”. From the side, he pointed out that Russian troops are entering the city in small groups.
The compatriot specified that the idea of the other nationals is to leave Ukraine with a Peruvian passport as a result of the restriction given for the departure of men from the country (18-60 years), which would not affect any Peruvian.
Ukraine prohibits exit
Yesterday, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyordered the “recruiting reservists for military service” and banned all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the country.
The measure will affect people subjected to “compulsory military service and reservists” and will be in force for 90 days in all regions of Ukraine.
