The Hungarian authorities will not block the new anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union, which are introduced in response to the military operation in Ukraine. This was announced by the Deputy head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Pavel Jablonski.

“Hungary will not block any sanctions against Russia, including those related to the SWIFT system,” the diplomat wrote on his Twitter.

In turn, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijarto denied reports that the country opposed Russia’s disconnection from the SWIFT system.

“I don’t understand how at a time when people are dying, there is a war going on, some people are creating fake news. And now they are lying that Hungary is blocking part of the sanctions against Russia, for example, in relation to the SWIFT system, ”Szijarto wrote on his Facebook.

Cyprus also changed its position on the issue of sanctions.

“Succeeded. Cyprus has stated that it will not block Russia’s disconnection from SWIFT,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted.

Until today, Cyprus and Hungary were among the few states that blocked Russia’s disconnection from SWIFT.
