On the fourth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin is willing to start conversations with the Ukrainian Government in search of a solution to the conflict.
According to the IFAX agency, a Russian delegation has landed in Belarus with the intention of starting negotiations with Ukraine, which would be the first time that this has happened since the invasion began.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov assures that this delegation includes members of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs, as well as members of Putin’s cabinet, awaiting the arrival of a Ukrainian delegation in the Gomel city.
Zelenski, ready to speak… but not in Belarus
This information has had a quick response from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskywhat has refused to speak in Belarus accusing Minsk of being complicit in the Russian invasion.
“Warsaw, Istanbul, Baku: We have offered Russia to hold talks in these cities, or in any other city where missiles are not being launched against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president said.
However, it opens the door to start a process of dialogue in other locations. The adviser to the Ukrainian president, Mykhailo Podolyakhas criticized this move to Gomel by the Russian government, asking them to have “real conversations“, no “ultimatums“by Russia.
