The cause of death of Brian Laundrie, Gabby Petito’s boyfriend who was murdered in the United States, is still unknown.

“The remains were sent to an anthropologist for further evaluation,” Steven Bertolino, an attorney for the Laundrie family, said in a statement.

The results of the autopsy performed on the remains of Brian Laundrie, considered the only “person of interest” in the case of the disappearance of the young Gabrielle Petito, found dead in September on a national reserve in the state of Wyoming (USA). ), are not conclusive in determining the cause of his death, local media reported on Monday.

Laundrie’s remains were found last Wednesday in a Florida natural park, but the cause of his death has not yet been determined.

“The manner or cause of (Laundrie’s) death has not (yet) been determined, and the remains were sent to an anthropologist for further evaluation,” Steven Bertolino, an attorney for the Laundrie family, said in a statement.

The FBI confirmed last Thursday that, after a month of searching, the human remains found in Myakkahatchee Creek Park belonged to Laundrie, 23, who had been declared a “person of interest” in the disappearance of Petito, 22, before his body was found in the state of Wyoming.

According to the FBI’s Tampa office, the remains were found along with personal items, such as a backpack and a notebook, belonging to Laundrie, Petito’s boyfriend and with whom he undertook a trip to natural parks in the United States last July.

“The family is suffering privately somewhere in Florida” (…) and there has been no update of the remains for evaluation by the anthropologist, “added Bertolino.

Petito and Laundrie traveled around the country narrating their trip in their truck on social networks, before Laundrie returned to her parents’ home in North Port, Florida without her on September 1 and then disappeared.

The young man was reported missing on September 17, after his parents said he went for a hike on September 13 and never returned home.

According to the authorities, several articles that would be Laundrie’s were found by the young man’s parents, who had informed that they would do a search in the area of interest, in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, in the city of North Port, where they live.

It is an area where a family vehicle had already been found abandoned a few weeks ago and which was also attended yesterday by officers, including coroners from Sarasota County, on the west coast of Florida, after the discovery of the human remains.

Used Petito cards

The young man was a fugitive from justice in a case for alleged fraud for the use of the young woman’s bank cards after her disappearance.

According to Wyoming coroners, Petito died of a homicide after being strangled approximately a month before his body was found on September 19 after disappearing since the end of August.

The notebook found among the remains that belonged to Laundrie could now be a key piece in the investigation of his death. (I)
