According to the athlete, that day he and his friends were going to go fishing. Before that, one of the men distributed weapons to the others in case there was a bird on the lake. The participants of the campaign were divided, and one of them at some point collided with a bear. The boxer was frightened at first and ran to escape to the shore, and then returned to help his friend. Medvedev added that they were not engaged in poaching.
Earlier, the first photo of the boxer appeared after the bear attack. The picture shows that Medvedev is lying on a hospital bed, his face is bandaged, traces of brilliant green are visible on it. The athlete, who was in a state of medical coma, was connected to a ventilator.
On October 20, information appeared that a bear attacked a boxer and two of his companions when they were returning from fishing in the Tyumen region. As a result, one of the men died, and Medvedev killed the beast with a knife.
Ilya Medvedev is a master of sports in boxing. In July 2019, he won gold at the championship of the Russian Armed Forces, becoming the best in the weight category up to 64 kilograms.
