Russian forces entered the northern Kiev region from Belarus to carry out a Grad missile attack on military targets, Ukrainian border guards said Thursday.
An AFP journalist in the north of the Ukrainian capital saw unidentified helicopters flying low on the outskirts of Kiev.
While AFP reported that on the roads of Kiev there have been traffic jams of people who want to leave the capital for fear of instability and the possible advance of Russian troops, according to several witnesses told Efe.
“People want to go west, to cities where there are no airports and military installations”said Olga, a public official.
He added that currently it is almost impossible to leave the city due to the accumulation of cars and the authorities have asked citizens to stay at home so as not to create more traffic jams.
“There are people who are in a panic, especially those who have children. And now they leave with the cars. Others, like some friends of mine, have decided to wait a bit.” said the young woman.

He added that there are also those who have approached the subway for fear of an air attack.
“It is true that there are many people leaving the city, but it depends on the options, those who do not have a car or where to go do not have that option”, Spanish Carlos told Efe, adding that “the roads are collapsed.”
