The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WB) will hold their annual spring meeting from April 18 to 24 in a hybrid format, digital and with a physical presence at their headquarters in Washington, DC.
Both international financial institutions announced in a statement that participants in the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) and the Development Committee will be able to choose whether they want to participate in person or virtually.
However, public events and press conferences will only be virtual and will be accessed through the agencies’ websites and digital platforms.
From the IMF and the World Bank they indicated that there could also be other events linked to the assembly during the weeks before and after the one on April 18.
The financial institutions pledged to continue to monitor developments in the global health situation and to modify plans if deemed necessary.
Since the start of the pandemic, the IMF and the World Bank have held all their annual meetings (spring and autumn) electronically.
These meetings normally bring together the world’s leading economic and financial government officials, as well as economists and experts from different fields.
