The president of the United States has warned his Russian counterpart that they are contemplating scenarios outside of diplomacy.
The president of United States, Joe Bidenhas warned his Russian counterpart this Saturday, Vladimir Putinthat although the US is prepared for the diplomatic channel on the situation in Ukraine, it is “equally prepared” for scenarios other than diplomacy.
In a call of one hour and two minutes between the two leaders, Biden has threatened to impose “severe costs” quickly to Russia in coordination with its allies in Europe if Putin proceeds with an invasion of Ukraineas reported by the White House.
“Should Russia carry out an even larger invasion of Ukraine, the United States together with our allies and partners will respond decisively and impose swift and severe costs on Russia,” the White House said in a statement.
In addition, Biden has reiterated that “a further Russian invasion of Ukraine would create widespread human suffering and lower Russia’s position.”
