Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the most controversial voices in the US House of Representatives, follower of the QAnon conspiracy movement and denier, has starred in a somewhat ridiculous moment by confusing “gazpacho with the Gestapo”.
It happened to him during an interview on ‘One America News Network’, in which he wanted to accuse Democrat Nancy Pelosi of using the Police to “spy on members of Congress.” However, her accusation has not gone well for her because she has confused the Gestapo, the secret police of Nazi Germany, with one of the most popular Spanish dishes: gazpacho.
“Now we have Nancy Pelosi’s Gazpacho Police spying on members of Congress, spying on the legislative work we do, spying on our staff and spying on citizens who want to talk to their representatives”, he pointed out during his speech on the aforementioned programme.
After making a mistake in her attempted comparison, Taylor Greene continued without rectifying her speech and concluded by demanding “that the current government of President Joe Biden end.”
This confusion has generated much criticism and jokes on social networks, such as that of the Spanish chef José Andrés, who has joked that he created “a gazpacho police” to ensure that the recipe for this dish remained intact. “I created the gazpacho police in 1993 so that no one would put tabasco or jalapeño no weird stuff. Please don’t blame anyone but me…” she wrote on her Twitter account.
The congresswoman herself has picked up the glove of all jokes to proclaim that “there will be no soup for those who illegally spy on congressmen” in a message posted on Twitter.
It is not the first time that Taylor Greene refers to Nazism, since last year it generated great controversy when comparing health measures such as the use of mask on Capitol Hill with the horrors of the Holocaust.
Linked to the QAnon conspiracy movement, she also starred in a scuffle with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, when she addressed the Democrat accusing her of having “radical socialist” beliefs and supporting “terrorists”.
