The United States announced on Wednesday the sending of 3,000 additional soldiers to Eastern Europe to defend NATO countries “against any aggression”, in full diplomatic activity to try to convince Moscow to withdraw its troops concentrated on the borders with Ukraine .

These new US troops are added to the 8,500 military personnel placed on alert at the end of January by President Joe Biden to be deployed in the NATO rapid reaction force in case of need.

Westerners accuse Russia since the end of 2021 of concentrating thousands of soldiers on the borders with Ukraine with a view to a potential invasion, which is denied by Moscow, which says it wants to guarantee its security. (I)
