This is life in Avdíivka, the city closest to the Ukrainian military front

Avdíivka is made up of deserted and icy streets that meet just four kilometers from ukrainian front. It is in the heart of the Donbas region. Its inhabitants are torn between worry and the desire that another military conflict not be repeated, as they confess to the laSexta team: “I don’t want there to be a war. I hope nothing happens, but the rumors make us nervous.”

“Only God knows if Putin will attack or not. It is a game between Russia and the United States,” says another resident of the area. At the moment, the Ukrainian army is practicing with weapons that the United States has sent them. A soldier warns about the worst scenario: “If you want peace, prepare for war.”

What’s more, the military also maneuvers in Chernobylsince it is one of the points where Russia, according to experts, could enter the country. The President of France, Macronbut nevertheless, is determined to find a peaceful solution. On Monday she will travel to Moscow to meet with Putin. And on Tuesday she will do it in Kiev with the president of Ukraine.
