Electromagnetic energy could cause the symptoms of Havana syndrome

Some type of electromagnetic energy could be behind the strange symptoms caused by what is known as “Havana syndrome” that dozens of US diplomats have suffered for five years in various countries around the world, a group of experts from the United States concluded on Wednesday. .

That panel of experts, created by the government of Joe Biden, explained in a report published this Wednesday that the symptoms of “Havana syndrome” are not explained only by psychological factors, such as stress or psychosomatic reactions that end up having an impact on the Body.

Specifically, the experts considered that some type of electromagnetic energy, especially emitted in a specific radio frequency, could be a “plausible” explanation for the symptoms, although they warned that there are still “gaps” of information.

Havana Syndrome: CIA report indicates that most cases were not caused by foreign powers

The panel of experts, which included scientists from inside and outside the government, was created under the authority of the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the CIA.

His goal has not been to determine who is responsible for the incidents, but rather to explain the mechanisms that could be behind the damage that US officials have suffered.

To carry out their investigation, the experts had access to more than a thousand classified documents, including the medical records of some of the victims.

More than 200 U.S. diplomats and officials stationed in different countries have suffered from symptoms of “Havana syndrome,” so named because it was in that city where the strange health problems were first detected in 2016.

Those affected by these incidents -registered in countries such as Cuba, China, Austria and Colombia, as well as in Washington- suffered symptoms similar to those of brain injuries, with dizziness, headaches and lack of ability to concentrate, which in some cases extremes have forced them to withdraw.

Havana Syndrome: what it is and in which countries cases have been reported

In January, several US media reported that the CIA had ruled out that these problems were the result of a campaign led by a country that was an enemy of the United States, such as Russia, something that many in Washington believed.

The origin and the person responsible for these mysterious “attacks” is still unknown, although the Biden administration continues to investigate it.

Just yesterday, Biden asked his national security team to identify by the end of this month those US officials who are most at risk of these symptoms.

In addition, he entrusted the coordination of his government’s response to Maher Bitar, who serves as senior director of intelligence programs at the National Security Council (NSC) in the White House. (I)
