The UN Security Council will address the Ukraine crisis today at the request of the US.

Russia has criticized that the Council has accepted the American request. “It’s a shameful public relations stunt,” said Russian ambassador Dmitri Polianski.

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Monday. at the request of the United States to deal with the current crisis in Ukraine, with which it is hoped to relax the tensions that for weeks have been reflected in the shows of force by Russia and NATO.

Before this announcement was made, the russian ambassador at the United Nations, Dmitri Polianski, said that he hoped that the Security Council would not support this proposal by the United States to meet, since it is nothing more than a “shameful public relations stunt.”

“I cannot recall another occasion in which a member of the Security Council has proposed to discuss his own accusations and unsubstantiated assumptions as if they were another party’s threat to the international order,” he wrote on Twitter.

For its part, as the escalation of tensions between the two parties continues, the NGO International Amnesty (AI) has warned of the “devastating consequences” for rights and freedoms that resorting to military force would have, although it has only pointed to Russia in this regard.
