The latest events of troop movements around Ukraine worry the Spanish, as has been detected by the special barometer of the Sixth about the political crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
The laSexta barometer has concluded that the majority of citizens support the decision to send three ships and Spanish aircraft to the area in support of our NATO partners. Specifically, almost 60% are in favor, compared to 40% who are against it.
Citizen support is also growing for Spain’s inclusion in the Atlantic Alliance (NATO). Almost 70% are in favor, compared to 30% which is against Similarly, 70% believe that our membership in NATO has been positive for our interests in recent years, while 30% make a negative assessment.
Despite citizen support for the Atlantic Alliance, a hard-fought majority half of Spaniards believes that in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine and a military response from NATO allies, Spain should not participate militarily. However, 49% would support participation.
by political parties, the majority of socialist voters believe that Spain should not participate in a military response, and much more support for this option among the followers of United We Can.
However, the majority of PP voters and all Vox voters would support the military option.
