Dubai inaugurates the tallest observation wheel in the world

At 250 meters, Ain Dubai almost doubles the height of the famous London Eye.

The tallest observation wheel in the world, the Ain Dubai (Dubai Eye, in Arabic), about 250 meters high, was inaugurated this Thursday by the authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Dubai Information Office celebrated on its Twitter account the inauguration of this attraction, which has taken two years, and which today has become “the largest and tallest observation wheel in the world”.

At 250 meters, Ain Dubai almost doubles the height of the famous London Eye in the British capital (135 meters) and far exceeds that of the High Roller in Las Vegas (USA) (168 meters).

Located on the artificial island of Blue Waters, off the coast of the city, the Ferris wheel needed the help of “the two largest cranes in the world” to be able to lift and has a capacity to accommodate 1,750 people in each rotation, which lasts approximately about 40 minutes.

“This marvel of engineering exemplifies the spirit of ambition of Dubai, making possible what seems impossible and completely redefines the experience of a observation wheel,” also noted via Twitter Dubai Holding, the investment company that financed the project.

The opening ceremony consisted of various concerts, as well as a fireworks and drone show that drew different figures and the name of the attraction in the sky of the Emirati city.

All tickets were sold out on the first day of operation of Ain Dubai, where the lucky ones who were able to get on the attraction enjoyed the views of this financial city, which the Emirati authorities want to turn into one of the main tourist destinations in the world.

Each cabin of the Ferris wheel has all kinds of luxuries, such as sofas where visitors can enjoy the views in comfort, or even tables and chairs for about ten people. (I)
