Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, creative members of the Pacific alliance, signed an international agreement with which they seek to position the creative and cultural industries as pillars for their development as a bloc.
This was done by the representatives of the four countries during the XVI Presidential Summit that took place at the Bahía Málaga naval base, in the Colombian Pacific.
The Colombian president, Iván Duque, highlighted “the agreement” because “the creative and cultural industries are an intrinsic part of the development of our nations, they are a reflection of our identity and for this it is necessary that the General Framework of Qualifications of our artists and managers cultural services is uniform and allows mobility in the provision of its services.
“Also, the joint circulation of content that involves production, post-production, distribution and protection of intellectual property rights,” added Duque.
In this sense, the Pacific Alliance will develop a joint agenda for the development of support mechanisms for SMEs in the cultural and creative sector, as well as for marketing cultural goods and services that allow generating greater exchanges between its members and other markets.
It is also planned to promote actions to promote the economic empowerment of women and the reduction of gender gaps in the creative economy.
“This declaration represents an unprecedented advance in the development of the creative economy in the Pacific Alliance region and a recognition of the contribution of the creative and cultural industries in the social and economic development of the countries,” said the Minister of Culture Colombian, Angelica Mayolo.
The senior official pointed out that this occurs because the sector contributes “to the generation of employment and the promotion of the circulation and consumption of cultural goods and services.”

The Pacific Alliance made a leap to the other side of the world on Wednesday by signing the accession of Singapore as the first Associated State.
The other adhesion that advances in the Pacific Alliance is that of Ecuador, whose president, Guillermo Lasso, today expressed confidence that it will be achieved soon.
It is also expected that with the entry of Singapore, the trade figures will grow in all the countries of the Alliance, which, likewise, trust that this country will become a “shuttle” for the bloc’s business in Asia.
