Nancy Pelosi will seek reelection in the United States Congress

During the four years of Donald Trump’s presidency, she assumed the role of main opponent of the Republican president.

Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives and the most powerful woman in Washington, announced her candidacy for re-election to Congress on Tuesday, without specifying whether she also wants to remain in office as speaker.

“This election is crucial,” stressed the 81-year-old parliamentarian, regarding the mid-term legislative elections in which the president of the United States, Joe Biden, risks the Democratic majority he enjoys in Congress.

“It is our democracy that is at stake, nothing less,” insisted the elected by the state of California in a video posted on Twitter, recalling the assault on the Capitol perpetrated by supporters of Donald Trump and the restrictions adopted in some Republican states on the voting access.

“But as we say, we are not sorry, we act,” said Pelosi, a skilled tactician, present in Congress since 1987 and who knows the ins and outs of power up close.

“That is why I am running for re-election,” announced the parliamentarian.

Pelosi, however, maintained reservations about her desire to be in the House of Representatives. The Democratic left wing has been pressing for several years for a change of leadership.

Considered a moderate in her San Francisco constituency, Nancy Pelosi is largely responsible for the approval of Joe Biden’s infrastructure plan, or even Barack Obama’s health reform.

He also knows how to easily raise millions of dollars for Democratic candidates in parliamentary elections.

Conservatives denounce, however, the arrogance of this woman, wife of businessman and millionaire, Frank Pelosi.

During the four years of Donald Trump’s presidency, she assumed the role of main opponent of the Republican president. In a spectacular gesture, Pelosi tore up the last State of the Union address of the then White House tenant in February 2020.

Mother of five children, called Nancy D’Alesandro in her civil registry, was born on March 26, 1940 in Baltimore into a Catholic Italian-American family. His father and brother have been mayors of this large industrial city in the northeast of the country. (I)
