Kurdish forces and the international coalition against the Islamic State have begun the incursion into the Ghueran prison, in the Syrian province of Hasaka (northeast of the country), with the intention of putting an end to four day assault of the Islamic State to free their almost 5,000 comrades imprisoned there, and which at the moment has resulted in more than 200 dead, according to the first official balance.

Among the deceased there are at least 175 members of the jihadist group and 27 members of the security forces, as reported by the SDF, which explains that there are 10,000 soldiers participating in the operation. Also there would be “dozens” of soldiers wounded.

“The SDF continues with its precise operations to reduce the space of the members of the Islamic State,” the SDF Military Operations and Coordination Center reported through its Twitter account.
