Russia calls for an end to the “anti-Russian campaign” of speculation about an attack on Ukraine

The Russian government has responded to the US president’s statements. Joe Biden has predicted that Russia will invade Ukraine and has created confusion about what the West’s response will be.

The Russian Government today called for an end to the “anti-Russian campaign” of speculation about a possible attack on Ukraine, after the declarations of the American president. Joe Biden has predicted that Russia will invade Ukraine and has generated confusion about what the West’s response will be.

“The objective of this campaign is to create an informative cover to prepare major provocations, including of a military nature, which can have tragic consequences for regional and global security,” the spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy said in her weekly press conference, Maria Zakharova.

“Since a few days ago Britain sends weapons to Ukraine in military transport planes of its Air Forces. It is already completely clear that no less than six flights have been carried out and each plane can carry up to 77.5 tons of cargo, that is, around 460 tons of weapons,” Zakharova said.

The Russian diplomat added that only in recent months U.S has sent 30 Javelin anti-tank systems and 180 missiles to Ukraine, and according to press reports it plans to soon provide the Kiev government with weapons worth 30 million dollars.

“In Ukraine they see this aid as a carte blanche to carry out a military operation in Donbas,” Zakharova stressed.

“We urge Western countries to stop the aggressive anti-Russian information campaign, stop the militarization of Ukraine and drag it into NATO. Instead, there should be direct efforts to encourage the Kiev regime to comply with the Minsk Agreements. (for peace in Donbas) and other international obligations,” he said.
