Sentence of Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos, will be released in September

A jury found Holmes, 37, guilty of fraud towards his investors.

Elizabeth Holmes, the former Silicon Valley star convicted last week of fraud by a California court, should hear her sentence on Sept. 26, according to a California judge’s decision released Wednesday.

The founder of Theranos, a company that promised to revolutionize blood testing, could spend decades in prison.

On Tuesday, his lawyers and the government agreed that a hearing to determine his sentence should not take place before September, “since there is an ongoing process on a related matter.”

That affair involves the former chief operating officer of Theranos and Holmes’ former partner, Ramsesh “Sunny” Balwani, who must be tried separately.

Balwani faces the same charges as Holmes and has pleaded not guilty, but his trial was delayed by the spread of the omicron variant.

The trial is due to begin on March 15, according to another legal document deposited Wednesday in the San José court.

A jury found Holmes, 37, guilty of fraud towards his investors, but acquitted her of other charges and could not agree on other facts that were accused.

Holmes, a young mother, is still out on bail for the time being. (I)
