– The act was prepared at a fast pace, as we have recently faced a sharp increase in gas prices on the markets – says Jacek Sasin in an interview. The minister attributes the price jump to several factors, in his opinion, independent of the state’s policy, such as: Gazprom’s price manipulation, increased demand on world markets or the policy of the European Union.
Amendment to the energy law. Who will pay less?
The minister emphasizes that the tariff mechanism for households limited the increases after the jump in prices on the market. The average increase for such farms is 54%. In view of the several hundred percent recorded by other entities, Sasin called this growth “quite economical”.
Other entities that were not covered by the mechanism mentioned by Sasin include: companies, large enterprises, but also a large part of flats that operate as part of cooperatives or council flats, as well as hospitals, schools and kindergartens.
New tariff fees in housing cooperatives
Some members of cooperatives and housing communities did not submit relevant declarations and could not be included in the new tariff. Sasin called it “great neglect”.
– By the act, we are straightening out, in a way, that all premises within communities and cooperatives are residential premises, announces Jacek Sasin in the morning interview of Polish Radio. According to the new act, all residential premises will be covered by the tariff and, consequently, their tenants will pay less for energy.
However, the introduction of amendments does not take place in a vacuum. Its direct consequence is forcing the Polish mining and gas industry to sell fuel at prices much lower than the price for which it is purchased. In this case, the compensation is to be paid from the State Budget.
The new tariff will also cover sensitive customers, i.e. those who have problems with making regular payments for electricity. This group will include, among others hospitals, schools, kindergartens, nursing homes and hospices.
