Germany’s new agriculture minister has opened the debate on the production and consumption of meat in the country just days after Minister Alberto Garzón in Spain received numerous criticisms for his words in ‘The Guardian’.
In an interview in the Bild newspaper, the ecologist Cem Özdemir He has stated that he wants to end junk prices of the meat offered by some large chains.
In this sense, Cem Oz-demir has opted to increase organic crops by up to 30%, arousing criticism even within his own party.
The controversy in Spain arose after the president of Aragon, Javier Lambán, and the president of Castilla y León, Fernández Mañueco, asked for the resignation of the Minister of Consumer Affairs when recovering some declarations of Garzón in ‘The Guardian’ when understanding that the leader criticized the quality of the cattle production in Spain.
In the British environment, Garzón charged against macro-farms for the emission of greenhouse gases that these produce, although he defended extensive livestock, the most important in Asturias, Castilla y León, Extremadura or Andalusia.
