France imposes the use of masks on children from 6 years in public places

The French authorities have announced that children from 6 years of age will have to wear masks in public places from Monday, in an extension of the age range that was until now at 11 years.

The norm will be applicable in public transport, establishments open to the public, sports complexes, places of worship and outdoors, according to the regulations published this Saturday in the official gazette of the French State.

The decision takes place before the start of classes and at a time when the omicron variant has triggered infections in the country to a record of 232,200 registered infections as of December 31.

Likewise, and also as of Monday, January 3, the health protocol will change at school: if a student tests positive, two tests will be requested from his classmates (instead of one) to return.

Access to education is a fundamental right of children and vaccination against the coronavirus will not be a condition for going to school”, Specifies the Ministry of Health in the note collected by ‘Le Figaro’.

The Government of France announced last Monday a battery of new measures to face the worsening of the pandemic situation, among which the imposition of teleworking between three and four days a week for the next three weeks stands out.
