China’s controversial public humiliation for skipping anticovid measures

Four people that the restrictions against the coronavirus in China have been bypassed have been forced to parade before a large crowd. Accompanied at all times by a large armed police groups, the four defendants have served this peculiar and controversial punishment by being displayed in the streets of the small Chinese city of Jingxi.

They had to wear PPE, medical equipment to protect against viruses, and carry the photographs of their faces as well as their names. Each of them was escorted by two other policemen who were also wearing protective gear.

All four are Accused of Helping Migrants Cross Illegally by the border, closed by the recent confinement.

The sanction has generated numerous criticisms for the public humiliation of the accused, a mockery of criminals that was banned in the country in 2010.
