Mexico does not rule out that US military plane has made espionage in its territory

The government of Mexico did not rule out Tuesday that a military aircraft of USA You have performed espionage work during recent flights made near your territory.

“We cannot rule it out because we do not know what they did,” replied the Secretary of Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla, to a reporter who asked about the possibility that it was espionage maneuvers.

However, Trevilla clarified that the flights made at the end of January “did not violate the national airspace.”

According to the officer during the daily conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum, her office confirmed the realization of two US military flights, on January 31 and February 3, by an American aircraft “in international airspace.”

He explained that the ship kept its location devices on, in compliance with international regulations, while clarifying that its office has not received requests for military planes to enter Mexican airspace.

He also indicated that even when the American aircraft has been able to obtain information from Mexican territory, it would have to be shared with the national authorities.

“If they get to have information there are the agreements that we have between armed forces precisely to share that information,” said the military chief at the conference.

Trevilla reported that he recently maintained a “very cordial, very respectful” communication with the head of the US Northern Military Command, in which they agreed to “attend more priority to the border” binational.

He also said that this Wednesday will take place “a very important meeting” among the military commanders on both sides of the border in the American city of El Paso, bordering the Mexican Ciudad Juárez.

Last week, Mexico deployed 10,000 troops from the militarized National Guard along the 3,100 km of the common border, in order to strengthen the combat of fentanyl traffic and irregular migration.

The operation was due to the requirement of the US president, Donald Trump, who threatened to impose 25% tariffs on Mexican exports that arrive in his country, if the Latin American country does not strengthen their drug policies and migration.

After dialogue with the Mexican president, Trump put in pause for one month the application of the rates and also accepted to strengthen control over the illicit traffic of weapons that flow from his country to Mexico, according to Sheinbaum.
