The United States set a new daily record for COVID-19 infections on Monday.
The president of United States, Joe Biden, did not rule out this Tuesday that his Government impose the requirement of having completed the vaccine schedule against covid-19 to travelers on internal routes, if advised by your medical team.
Asked by journalists in Delaware, where the year-end period is spending, about when it would make a decision on the mandate of vaccines for internal travelers, Biden assured that “when I receive a recommendation from the medical team.”
The president’s statement came when the country warned of a rebound in covid-19 infections.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, in English) revealed on this day that the United States established on Monday a new daily record of covid-19 infections.
According to CDC records, on December 27 there were 441,278 new cases in the country.
In addition, the CDC on Tuesday lowered the prevalence rate of the omicron variant in the country with respect to other strains such as the delta.
In updated data on its website, the CDC points out that in the week of December 19 to 25, infections by omicron accounted for 58.6%, but they cut the estimate of the previous week, in which they now indicate that omicron was responsible 22.5% of new infections.
A few days ago, the CDC itself had placed the percentage of omicron prevalence in the week of December 12 to 18 at 73.2%, so they have corrected by more than fifty points this estimate.
CDC figures indicate that 205.4 million people have completed their vaccination in the United States, while 67.3 million have already had the booster dose. (I)
