The presidential candidate of the majority opposition Venezuela, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiaassured that the results of the elections held this Sunday are “undeniable”, in which he competed against nine contenders, including the current president, Nicolas Maduro.
In a brief message published on X, the standard-bearer of the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) said that the country “chose a change in peace,” without giving further details about the result of the elections, awaiting the first official bulletin of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
This message comes five hours after the closing of the polling stations, and the results are still unknown in a country that prohibits and punishes the dissemination of electoral projections or exit polls before the first CNE bulletin.
Furthermore, González Urrutia’s comment comes after his greatest supporter, opposition leader María Corina Machado, reiterated her call to citizens and electoral witnesses of the PUD to remain in the centers until the results are announced.

Throughout the day, the PUD reported that witnesses were prevented from entering some centers, although they clarified that these incidents were a minor percentage. However, in the evening the coalition warned of a “pattern” to prevent its electoral witnesses from witnessing the counting of votes, which must be public, according to the Law.
In recent hours, numerous complaints have circulated on social media about the alleged presence of Chavez supporters, some of them hooded, who have shown up at the centers to harass or scare away those who intend to document the vote count.
