The Civil Guard has arrested three people in Manacor (Balearic Islands), Huelva and Seville for his alleged involvement in cyber attacks against public institutions and strategic companies Spain and other NATO countries supporting Ukraine within the framework of the war conflict arising from the Russian invasion.
The armed institute reported this Saturday that The detainees are believed to have participated in carrying out denial of service attacks (DDoS) organized by the hacktivist group ‘NoName057(16)’, which was born after the outbreak of the war and threatens to respond “proportionately in response to the hostile and openly anti-Russian actions of Western Russophobes.”
These attacks, which used software developed by ‘NoName057816)’, They have been directed against public institutions and companies in strategic sectors of countries that have positioned themselves in favour of Ukraine.
Following the arrests, the Civil Guard proceeded to search the homes of these people and seized various computer and documentary material of interest. The investigation has been coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Computer Crime Division and the Prosecutor’s Office of the National Court, where the preliminary proceedings that led to the arrests were initiated.
The Civil Guard has indicated that it is continuing with several lines of investigation to continue identifying participants in the attacks..
