The Paris Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Marine Le Pen for an alleged illegal financing of his campaign for the 2022 presidential election.
The investigation was opened by six possible crimesamong which are embezzlement, Documents forgery and the acceptance of a loan of an entity.
Le Pen was singled out after the public prosecutor’s office received a report in 2023 from the National Commission on Campaign Accounts and Political Financing (CNCCFP), the body responsible for verifying that candidates do not exceed the spending limit established by law and examining invoices related to electoral activities.
Le Pen’s party has already been involved in similar cases in the pastLast June, the courts convicted the National Group for fraud and extortion of public funds in the 2012 legislative elections.
