“The chancellor and President Milei spoke about the Argentine purposes of the reforms and their repercussions for the population. In this sense, the chancellor stressed that, from his point of view, the social compatibility of the reforms and the protection of social cohesion“said the German Government in a brief statement about the meeting.
The two leaders also addressed the negotiations for a trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the Mercosur states: “They agreed that the talks on the treaty should be completed quickly,” said the German Government, which has underlined its support for Argentina’s possible entry into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a topic that was also addressed during the meeting between both political leaders.

It’s about the first time Milei meets during a visit abroad with a social democratic head of government. Initially, he was to be given a state reception, including military honors, but the original program was eventually reduced to a brief working meeting after – according to the German government – Milei refused to appear before the press with Scholz.
