At least three people have died and another eleven have been injured, including two police officers, as victims of a shooting occurred this Friday in a grocery store in the town of Fordyce, located in the US state of Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police (ASP) officers responded shortly before noon (local time) to the grocery store where the shooting was taking place, where They have seriously injured the shooter, who has already been arrested.

The Arkansas Police Communications Office has reported in a statement that the incident was reported around 11:38 a.m. and that among the injured there are those with minor injuries, as is the case of the two officers; and others who are in critical condition.

In addition, The alleged perpetrator of the shooting has been “seriously injured after being shot by the Police and has been taken into custody”have indicated from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the ASP, in charge of the investigation, that for the moment they say “they do not have any more information that they can release” in this regard.

“I have been informed about the tragic shooting in Fordyce and I am in constant contact with the State Police on the scene,” said Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on her official social media profile.

For its part, the White House was “grateful to the law enforcement officers who put themselves in danger by confronting the suspect and taking him into custody.”

“Federal authorities are assisting with the local investigation”they added in a statement reported by the American news network CBS.

Likewise, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has added that special agents have traveled to the scene and are providing assistance in response to the mass shooting.
