An argument in Seattle (United States) over the price of a coffee ended in a violent altercation. Emma Lee, a 23-year-old barista, broke a customer’s windshield with a hammer after he threw coffee at him.
Emma Lee is the owner of ‘A Taste of Heaven Espresso’ coffee shop, located in South Seattle. As reported by The New York Post, the confrontation began when a customer, whose identity has not been revealed, questioned the price of his order, which consisted of a 946 ml coffee and a 710 ml water, for a total of USD 22. Upset about the cost, the customer threw both drinks at Lee, who at that time was serving at his post.
The situation was captured by surveillance cameras from the cafeteria and the video was later shared on Lee’s Instagram account. In the video you can see how the customer, after throwing the drinks, returns to his vehicle while Lee takes out a hammer and hits the windshield of the car.
Lee defended his actions by stating that he acted in self-defense and that he had the right to protect his property. He also noted that the client’s assault was not an isolated incident, as the man had previously displayed aggressive behavior. Local police are investigating the incident to determine appropriate legal action.
