Last weekend, Israeli special forces carried out a high-risk operation in the Nurseirat refugee camp in Gaza to rescue four Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The officers’ body cameras captured the entire dramatic sequence, which included an intense exchange of shots.
The video shows the agents advancing cautiously with flashlights attached to their rifles, ready to face any unforeseen threat. In the midst of the crossfire, they managed to reach a room where the four hostages were locked up. Upon entering, the kidnapped people, visibly frightened, raised their hands in surrender.
“Here! They’re here!” one of the agents can be heard shouting while confirming the identity of the hostages. “We have come to rescue you, don’t worry!” said one of the soldiers to calm one of the kidnapped people.
The rescue did not end there. Upon leaving the building, the agents had to protect hostages from gunshots ongoing disputes between the Israeli army and Hamas fighters. Finally, they managed to evacuate the hostages to a waiting helicopter, ensuring their safe transfer.
The operation, which Israel had meticulously planned for weeks under the code name ‘Diamonds’, It involved several agents infiltrating Gaza, posing as civilians and fighters from the Al Qasam Brigades. They used a white van with mattresses to go unnoticed.
Despite the success of the rescue, the operation resulted in a massacre that left 274 Palestinians killed and nearly 700 injuredreflecting the brutality of the conflict.
