It won’t end with bottle caps. The EU will introduce further changes

The European Union intends to continue the fight against excess plastic. After attaching the caps to the plastic bottles, it’s time for the popular “skipping” bags and sets of mini cosmetics from hotels.

The discussion around the topic is still ongoing. As it turns out, the European Union is planning to introduce further regulations related to the fight against excess plastic. This time they will concern plastic cutlery, and in the future, “snap” bags and packaging for hotel cosmetics.

Changes related to the use of plastic. New bans from July

, from July 1 this year, plastic cups, plates, cutlery, food packaging and straws will be phased out. Customers of catering establishments will be able to pack the ordered food in their own containers. It will be possible to use disposable packaging, but for a fee. The box will cost 25 cents and the mug with a lid will cost 20 cents.

We will have to wait for changes related to the use of “hauling”. Thin plastic bags will disappear from stores only in 2030. This was adopted in the resolution of the European Parliament of April this year.

More bans coming soon. They will mainly concern packaging

In 6 years, bans will also be introduced regarding fast food establishments and the hotel industry. Fast food customers will not be allowed to serve additives such as ketchup or mayonnaise in plastic packaging, and hotels will be ordered to remove plastic bottles for mini cosmetics.

The European Union also emphasizes the role that recycling plays. In five years, all EU countries will be obliged to achieve at least 90 percent effectiveness in recovering plastic packaging. This system will be launched next year. It will involve adding a deposit of PLN 1 for glass packaging and PLN 50 for cans and plastic bottles, which will be refunded after they are returned.
