In Spain we like to interpret each election in a national key and the european elections They were not going to be less. But, if someone wants to interpret the results of this 9J In that sense, it must be adapted to the Spanish system. What would the Congress of Deputies be like today if the elections were general? At laSexta we have calculated it.

You can see it in the estimate that heads these lines, into which we have converted the data from the European elections applying the d’Hont law and the provincial system.

The key is that, in the European elections, Spain votes like single constituency, while in a general election there are 52, one per province. This means that each province has some seats assigned to it and that they must be distributed applying the d’Hont law based on the votes cast from each constituency.

For this reason, and to accurately represent how Congress would have been with the votes cast this 9J, we have transferred the votes of each province based on the seats that each one has in the general elections. In addition, the votes destined for the different coalitions created for these elections are also transferred to territorial parties, such as Now Republics (ERC, Bildu and BNG) or CEUS (PNV, Canarian Coalition)depending on the province to which they correspond.
