The investigation against Begoña Gómez has already fully entered the final stretch of the race towards the european electionsto the point of becoming the central issue of the last hours of the campaign and a double-edged electoral weapon, which both PP and PSOE use to mobilize their electorate this Sunday.

Thus, while the President of the Government reappeared in the last hours with his wife at an electoral event in Benalmádenajust one day after knowing that the judge has called her to testify as investigated, the leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accuses him of victimizing himself and to carry out populist “blackmail”.

“Let them charge the president’s wife and him playing the victim and asking for the vote is blackmailmore typical of populism than a Western democracy,” he stated this Thursday in statements to ‘esRadio’, where he assured that the Government has no “economic” or “social” agenda, but only “there is a judicial agenda.”

For Feijóo, Sánchez “came to be crowned” with the rally at which the socialist leader, Far from hiding, he went with his wife for the first time in the campaign. A complete declaration of intentions after his court summons, to which Sánchez reacted with a new letter to citizens in which he criticized the failure to comply with “the unwritten rule” of not dictating resolutions that may condition the campaign.

Along the same lines, different voices from the PSOE spoke out loudly and, although no one has wanted to talk explicitly about prevaricationboth at the head of the list for the Europeans, Teresa Riberaas the minister spokesperson of the Government, Pilar Alegríainsisted throughout Wednesday on the “strangeness” that the announcement of this judicial summons came a few days before the elections.

An issue that the president seems to have turned into an trick to awaken a mass reaction from the left in front of the “mud” and thus turn around the polls on 9J. A “vile attack from the right and extreme right,” he insisted this Wednesday, whose sole purpose is “to defeat a Government that creates jobs, that raises the SMI and revalues pensions.”

“Either we are with social justice or we are with Milei; or we are with peace or with Netanyahu; or we are with feminism or with Abascal; either with fair play in politics or we are with Feijóo“he cried.

Feijóo accuses Sánchez of victimizing himself

The leader of the PP, in turn, sees in the Benalmádena event “populist images modeled after the Kirchners in Argentina” and reproaches Sánchez that “he is using his family to victimize himself and seek votes“, while, at the same time, he also tries to get electoral revenue from the cause against Begoña Gómez, calling for mobilization and concentrating the vote in the Popular Party.

Thus, he has accused the President of the Government of being the “first political harasser of Spanish judges” and if he believes himself to be “unpunished”: “There is no persecution, there is no conspiracy, there is an interest in investigating alleged corruption,” he stated.

An interview in which Feijóo has also assured that the UCO report that he found no evidence of a crime in Begoña Gómez’s activity “it was not such”, but rather “it was cut out and was a leak”, to which the PSOE accuses him of questioning the Civil Guard and its work “in a drift “absolutely inappropriate.”

Feijóo, they assert, “has carried out an entire campaign with a complaint based on digital hoaxes” and now “has ended up questioning the work of the Civil Guard”, for which they demand that he apologize.
